DIY: Snakebite belt fix

I was sized out of the infamous snakebite belt at Anthropologie. But when has that deterred me, eh? So, here is what I did with the smallest belt I could find:

Step 1:
I bought the smallest belt I could find. Although, I could have gotten any size, since I am making it smaller.

Step 2:
I measured how many inches shorter I want the belt, and marked the difference near the middle of the belt along the wrong side:

Step 3:
Using the marks as a guide, I sewed on the wrong sides along the lines, right side facing the right side:
I could have sewn by hand too, since the ridges are easy to sew on.

Step 4:
Here is what the belt looked like after the sewing:

As you can see, it is not very well-finished. wuaan-wuaan... Not to worry only, here is what I did next:

I turned it around and cut through the sewn part as shown above. I made sure the new size fit me the way I wanted to before I ran the scissors through it lol.

Step 5:
After cutting the belt in half, I wanted to make sure the ends will not fray and unravel, so I used a simple blanket stitch to kind of 'seal' the edges. (say hello to the little tailor's chalk in the background :)) Click on the picture to see a bigger image:

Step 6:
I also secured the point where I had sewn earlier by reinforcing the stitches where the two ends meet. Then I sewed the top right part you see in the picture along the piece of belt under it. Click on the picture to see a bigger image:

The ridges along the edges of the belt are easy to sew on.

Step 7:
Here is the finished project:

And here it is from the front:
